Stephen Gibbs is the Latin America correspondent for The Times (London) and Venezuela correspondent for The Economist. He also reports across the region for CGTN America. He was the BBC’s correspondent in Mexico (2008-2010) and Cuba (2002-2007).
During the course of his career he has reported some significant breaking news events, including the death of Hugo Chavez in 2013, the 2009 coup in Honduras, the illness of Fidel Castro in 2006, the 2004 rebellion in Haiti, and the second Palestinian Intifada in the year 2000.
He is a published author of 6 children's books. Stephen read English Literature at Cambridge University.
